and why? Okay, these are three males I am looking at to keep; I can only keep one though.

The first one is from the pair that produces all the pin stripe, low black aberrant in a variety of colors.

Next is one I bought so it is a different bloodline. I bought it as a female but it is not and of the three I bought from this person that were supposed to be eating only this one is eating (so I am not naming anyone). My concern here is the gray face. I see lots of them with it (most) but I’m not a fan of it.

Last is from a pair that produces large clutches (13 to 14), a mix of colors including florescent colors (like this guy), and wild head patterns.

#3is the best looking as a neonate, and has more "+" marks for breeding, but I would go for #2 because I perfer the lighter phase as adults. The other two look to me like they will turn dark in color as they get older. Just my opinion.

I thought it would be the other way around (lol). I thought #2 looked like it might darken as it got older.

This is a tough one, too bad you have to choose. I would pick the first one, but mainly by it's looks. I suppose if I were in your shoes I would consider genes as well... but this one just caught my eye first. Good luck with your decision!

Number one is the bomb! Even if he does get darker with age those abberancies are smokin'!

Hi Rick

All are very nice looking animals but it all depends on what you're looking/aiming for. If you're breeding for color I would keep all of them for a year and see how they would turn out. We all know that these animals sometimes drasticly change as they mature. If you're looking to breed a pattern trait well that's a give away. A new line would help you avoid potential problems in the future also. It all depends on what you want to do in the longrun. Hope it helped a bit.

I have been back East most of the week. Glad to see this generated some discussion – my real goal (and I would love to hear more discussion – you won’t hurt my feelings).

As I said in my original post, all three have pros and cons; IMHO, they all have far more pros than cons. Since they are all great (again IMHO) it comes down to what is needed (or desired) by each breeder for their own breeding project. In this case - me. I like bright color – they all have it, I am interested in producing more spotted/aberrant Thayeri so #3 becomes my last choice (though he has the brightest color, best head pattern, and is a bottomless pit). I already have a brother and sister to #1 from last year – the brother is the spotted one, so right now I am leaning towards #2 but I keep changing from #1 and #2. I actually thought about just putting them all up for sale and keeping the last Thayeri standing (LOL). There is really no wrong choice but probably #1 or #2.

You're right. It's a win- win situation for ya. I still think that #1 is the best. Wait a minute.....I mean... #1 is ugly.....If I were you I'd sell him as quick as I could. lol.
