I posted below that I had just ordered my first pit the other day and well he just arrived! He is beautiful! Also very fiesty,I have never had a pit so therefor have never heard them hiss or anything like that.Let me tell you, as soon as I took him out of the little tub he was shipped in, he started hissing away, scared the hell out of my wife who isn't very fond of snakes in the first place! She is convinced that he is a snake from hell!! lol! He also tagged me! The little bugger was not happy about his plane ride from florida to az! lol anyways, he is tucked away in hi cage, so he can relax for the next couple of days! so on this hissing thing, do they do it when they are pissed off? or do they do it all the time? Here is a quick pic of him, he was not happy so I took a quick pic and put him up so he could chill out. Must of hissed in his cage for like 5 min straight! Lastly how long is an average hatchling? This guy is huge compared to my hatchling king and rat snake! Sorry for the long post, just excited about my first pit!!

Good choice on the black pine.
Yeah, he may have been stressed out from the trip. I would leave him alone for at least 3 or 4 days so he could get used to his new cage. He may still hiss or may not, you shall see. My black pine, PV, is actually the sweetest and most gentle snake I own. She does not hiss ever....but each snake is different.

Your black pine is gorgeous!!! You got that from Suncoast, right?
Keep us posted with your new black pine! Again, you made a great choice!

Yeah I got him from John at Suncoast! He is a awsome animal, he is from the ginter line, so thats even better! Yeah I think he had a rough trip so isn't too happy! I will take better pics in a few days! this guy is huge!

Yeah its fun, but a little unnerving when your use to king and ratsnke hatchlings who are small and just crap on you if their upset! But then you got this huge monster on your arm hissing like crazy and your like your just a baby why are you soo mad!! LOL! Thnax
