Dimming thermostat

anafranil Oct 17, 2006 03:54 PM

I learnt what a dimming thermostat is when I was discussing something for my day gecko on the net,how come I haven't seen it mentioned before all this time in the forum?Doesn't it have any application with chameleons?

Probably because we use overhead lights for heat. "dimming" thermostats are most often used to control heat output of tank heaters not lights. It also depends on whether the heating element is an "on-off" or other type of control. We tend to want more light...and if you dim them you just defeated the purpose. If a light is too hot we just use a lower watt bulb.
