Questions about heating?

blaino_murph Aug 06, 2003 02:13 PM

I am using two heating sources at the same time. I'm using a heating pad that is on low (75-80 degress F.). Also, I'm using a heat lamp with a regular 100 w. light bulb. Is this to hot for my baby albino corn snake? My snake hasn't been eating for 14 days now. I'm worried. The snake has red eyes but they look a little cloudy. The body is not that cloudy though.

The only way to tell if it is too hot is by measuring the surface temp with a reliable thermometer. It should be around 84-90 (maybe a little higher) on the hot side. Unless you have a large cage or a cold ambient temp, a 100 watt may be too much.
