breeding question....

We were just wondering that if the male is sheding will he still try to get him some??? because neither one of our males will while they are sheding...we are hoping to get one of our girls prego...we think one or both might be...not sure yet...

He might still try but in our breedings we have noticed that if the male is in a shed when the female is ready, we often get a number of slugs in the litter. So, even though there have always been babies for us, the unusual number of slugs make me wonder if males don't do the job as effectively if they are in a shed for some reason.

Maybe the shed is acting like a leaky condom? Not allowing all the sperm and other fluids to effectively pass?

but good thought.

The Barker's new book pictures the "plugs" from an adult male BP, and it says how they are mostly remains from shed skin and a little sperm. So saying that the shed (extra skin) prevents good insemenation, makes sense.

As for Dave ... I think an adult book store might answer some of your questions ... after all, it sounds like you really need to get out of your snake den more often.
