Rabbit Water Crocks

HappyHillbilly Oct 18, 2006 02:13 AM

Hi there!
I'd like to find out what most people use as water crocks for rabbits. With Winter coming up I'm thinking about switching to crocks.

Thanks!

It is said that 1 out of every 4 people are mentally unbalanced. Think of your 3 closest friends, if they're normal, then it's you.

When I raised larger number of bunnies outside I used ceramic yellow crocks that were common in every feed store. You may have a hard time finding them or not. Depressed rural upstate NY....not so hard to find.
You could also use a more 'pet store' available version with the lighter weight Van Ness 'plastic' sort of crocks. They are lighter and may be tipped easily but they will withstand the cold and freezing.
Another choice might be the coop crocks that are actually a stainless steel bowl in a metal ring that will hold them in one place. I see them possibly freezing into the ring that holds them but otherwise the stainless steel is gonna hold up.
We only have a couple of rabbits now and they live in the shelter of the garage so their water bottles still work though they do have to be thawed a couple three times a day in the middle of winter. We don't fill them all the way and so far have avoided cracking the bottles.

Thank you, Sonya.
The ceramic ones are what I had in mind. I like the weight, which helps to keep it where its supposd to be. And in the right position, too.

Oh no, you remind me of my wife.

Every time we get into a fight I get her on her hands & knees, just a beggin'.

She gets on her hands & knees, looks under the bed, and begs me to come out and fight like a man.

Have a great day!

Thanks, again!
