Bowel Movement

Sankofa Oct 18, 2006 08:25 AM

Hello, everybody. I have a blood python that's less than 6 months old. She eats well, and is in good health. Temperature/humidity in tank is optimum. Problem: She hasn't moved her bowels since I've had her. I've had her about 5 weeks. She has eaten each week(small/medium rats-frozen). Her tail isn't swollen with waste, but I can feel the lumps of feces. As I said, she's in otherwise good health. I've soaked her in warm water for about 15 minutes 2 consecutive days. Perhaps I should soak her more consecutive days(?).

P.S. I have heard/read that bloods don't move their bowels often. I haven't fed her this week for fear that I could compound the problem. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. -Sankofa-

When She goes you'll be wondering how a great Dane got into her cage.LOL

This is common, mine only go once every 2-3 months.

I bought a juvenile albino Blood at the Daytona Show in August...eats like a horse, growing fast---- but hasn't pooped yet. I've learned with my other Bloods that this is not usually a problem.

Best Regards-

That is completly normal. Just make sure the snake has plenty of drinking water. A lot of the short, thick-bodied snakes seem to do this as well.

Mine is pretty regular...3 or 4 jumbo rats and then a jumbo present for me!

This pictures is pretty old...she is MUCH bigger now, but you get the point of what you have to look foward to!
