Hopefully he will grow up to be as nice as the two I CAN'T get from you.
But this one is cool so I will thank you for that.

How's it going man? Good I hope. Are you from the same area of that little one? Just curious.
After loosing everything to Katrina down in Southeast Louisiana, I have relocated and I'm now living up here in northeast Alabama AND in Dekalb County to be exact !!

Just wondering if you are close by and didn't know it?

Walter

Walter, The snake came from me, Im from Dekalb Al, Jimmy is from Chattanooga, TN, not sure if he replied to this..If you ever up to any herping, let me know, ill gladly show you around, im from Fort Payne by the way.

Walter Smith Oct 20, 2006 03:14 PM

Gottcha.
Good to know. Well, he still isn't too far away, only about an hour or so correct?

Sounds good. I'm always willing to meet new people with the same great interest as me, CORN SNAKES !!!!

I'm in Collinsville, not far from the Dekalb/Cherokee county line. Mt. Zion area.

Walter

Awesome ! your about 15 minutes away from me..If that..Ive spent many hours herping in Collinsville, Tons of canebrake rattlers in that area !!..and if you know the spot, there is a creek that has american alligators living and thriving ! they were released 10 years ago and now are protected. Corn snakes are pretty hard to find here in North bama.Havent hunted for them in Collinsville, But I know of a population in my area..Do you ever go to the famous "trade day " in Collinsiville..I go almost every Sat to goof off lol.

Walter Smith Oct 20, 2006 04:53 PM

Yep, I know exactly where you are talking about. They are down in Sand Rock. Actually, a buddy of mine purchased 13 acres right close to them. Only saw one though when he took me to see the land. It's not much exciting for me to see gators being from southeast Louisiana, we had TONS of them down there !!

Yes, I have been to trade day a few times. The last time I went, there was a guy selling a Ball Python..........HMMMMMM
That wasn't you was it???

What's your email address?
Walter

Snake_Master Oct 20, 2006 05:04 PM

Yeah its in Sand Rock, Awesome place to me lol..Someone released some brown water snakes also ? they sure the heck wasnt our midland water snakes..No it wasnt me selling a ball python, I know who your talking about though, I only work with corn snakes, rat snakes and local specific pine and kingsnakes..My email is zach_sylvania_08@yahoo.com

Hey Walter,
I guess a lot of the information has been answered by Zach.
The litlle Alabama corn came from him.
He has an adult pair I want but he will never let them go.
As he said I am just about 45 minutes up the road in Tennessee.
I didn't realize you had moved so close.
It would really be nice to meet and talk some time.
I have very little knowledge compared to yours but I do have a love for the hobby and I'm sure we could have some enjoyable conversations.

If you are going to Birmingham today then you will probably be there while I am typing this.
I had to work today so I didn't get a chance to head down there.
I go every once in a while. Not every month.
We will have to make plans to meet at the November show if not some time sooner.

Yeah,
I took a ride down there this morning. November show sounds good to meet. I'll probably be going just about every month now that I'm so close. It used to be a 5 1/2 - 6 hour ride for me when I lived down in Louisiana, now 1 housr at the most.

Jimmy, what kind of substrate do you use? The reason I ask is, I've always used sani-chips ( Aspen Chips ) but I can't seem to find it anywhere around here. I was just wondering if they have it in your area?

I use aspen shavings.
Not the sani chips but decent shavings. They have them at Pet-Smart.
If you can't get them down there, let me know and I will get you a large bag or two and bring 'em down.

Thanks. I found shredded aspen at the petco in Gadsden. In the meantime I'm using corncob litter. I just rather the aspen chips.

My buddy is heading down to our home town soon and he is going to pick up 10-20 bags from the feed store where I used to get it whe he goes down there.

Thanks man,
Walter
