Handeling my Bull

kenbp Oct 19, 2006 12:22 AM

Just wondering what would be better. I have a hatchling bull snake and gopher snake. Would it be better to handle them twice a day with shorter sessions or handle them once a day with a longer session. I just want to know what you guys think would be less stress on the snake.

On a note I handled them both for the fisrt time today and the gopher was a bit nippy in the beggining then settled down. The bull snake was also nippy at first then she settle down, but after a while I put her back because she was starting to get nippy again. After I put her back she was hissing for a few seconds.

I just got a hatchling black pine and if it makes you feel any better The first time I held him he struck at me like 5 times and hissed like no other! Fact is I cannot walk past his cage without getting hissed at for the time being! Good luck, They will calm dow. hopefully someone with more experiance can answer your question, I tend to take my snakes out once a day for long handling sessions and that seems to work for me. hope this helps!
