Hi, ok I have a friend that says he want to start a reptile park or zoo in fla, so I told him I would see what everyone had to say about it. Just curious to what you guys think the cost and requirements on starting a reptile park would take?
Thanks

The cost would be huge. The electricity bill alone would be a few thousand a month i'd say, depending upon how many animals you have, and how big it is. Gotta have heating and lighting for the reps AND the people.
Also, would this be a display park only? Handling reptiles is a bit risky...insurance would be killer. Certifications would probably be needed for handlers, and licenses to operate might be a hassle to maintain.
You would also need to think about the different kinds of food needed. Raising it yourself would be a good thing, but that is another endeavor all together.
JMOP, but I would do a lot of research on cost, requirements, and demand.
Your not going to make much money doing that. You would be better off breeding and saleing. Check out the market and rise the species you like.
