Brumation

kellybee Oct 19, 2006 05:07 AM

Hi guys,

Does anyone brumate their collareds at room temperature? I', planning on putting Yoda and Yoshi into the back room where it is colder than the rest of the flat, but it is between 12 and 20 degrees depending on the outside temps, day or night. I've read some people use cool boxes but I dont really fancy that, is room temperature not cool enough, if the heating is switched off?

I dug out the following temps:

8C = 46.4f
9C = 48.2f
10C = 50f
11C = 51.8f
12C = 53.6f
13C = 55.4f
14C = 57.2f
15C = 59f

Some people say keep them at 55 which is 13 degreesn (I think this is really mild), I have read in loads of places too that you should keep them between 8-12 which is 46 to 53, thats a lot cooler !!!!

Some people do theirs at room temperature, I dont know what is best, I am worried about mould and suffocation and damp or something going wrong by putting them in the fridge, especially with all these respiratory infections going around, I'd rather not put them in there, and I dont have a shed or basement so seems like room temps or mum-in-laws garage, but then I can only check them on a saturday, so home is the safest place for them??????

What would you guys do in my situation?
