Just checkin' in... New Dixie Pics

jcampbell Oct 19, 2006 12:05 PM

Hey All,
I've been real busy with my new passion... restoring vintage pedal-start mopeds. I've bought 12 of 'em in the last year and am having a blast with it.
I have not posted pictures of my Texas Indigo in a while. Her length is about 3.5 ft. She is an '05 from Dean Alessandrini... who has since sold her parents to Mike Meade. She is a fantastic creature. I took her to my local herp society meeting last night and she was a big hit... especially with the kids... now I just need to get a male.
So, I took some new pics of her and wanted to share 'em. Hope you all enjoy them. Note that none of these photos was manipulated in any way... just straight off the camera.

Enjoy, and keep herpin'

Justin

Thata GREAT looking Dry and the pics came out well, THANKS for sharing. Mopeds eh? How hard is it to get parts for them? Like VESPAS?

Most Vespas are scooters. I only do mopeds... they must have pedals...

Vespa did make some mopeds and I have a 1978 Vespa Grande moped... (the silver one in the picture I attached). Only 450 miles on it, I got it for $50!!

I've been running a little classified ad and buying 'em from old folks for next to nothing, fix 'em, ride 'em, and then sell 'em... then I repeat the process.

Back to indigos, I'm glad you liked the pictures, I'll post more as she grows.

Take care,

Justin

When I was 14, I had a "Puch Newport L"...black...mighty 2 HP.
I LOVED that bike and spent every spare minute of 2 summers on it. Great memories. I was supposed to stay in my neighbor hood...but...HA. Me and a buddy used to catch the ferry across the Ohio river and cruise the rural highways in northern Kentucky.

I once slammed on the brakes to catch a 6' black rat snake and carried it home, riding one-handed with the snake wrapped around my right arm. You should have seen the looks I got from passing traffic!

Hey Dean!
Hope you are doing well. And I hope you also saw the Dixie pics from the other day... She is doing great. Thanks again, Dean.

As for the my mopeds... on the far right of the pic I attached is a (red) 1977 Puch Maxi with only 800 miles on it. They are SO much fun I can hardly stand it. I spend every spare moment and penny on my new hobby.

Take care, and keep herpin'

She looks absolutely fantastic!
Great work raising her!

How big is she?
She looks very large for a yearling!

Did't see this til after my other post... but yeah she is getting pretty big I guess. I'd say she's about 3.5' - maybe a bit longer... not 4' just yet.

She eats about 3 to 4 adult mice every 12-14 days. And seems to REALLY enjoy it, I might add.

She has been shedding out about once every month and a half.

Once again, thanks so much for her. Now I just need an unrelated male.

Anybody wanna buy a vintage moped? LOL...
