Carpet python info

dragonTaTu Oct 19, 2006 04:29 PM

I am in the market for a new "pet" snake, and have been looking at several royals (have owned in the past, will own again) and carpets, as well as some in the boa family. I want something fairly large, but exceeding 8-10 feet, as I have children and will need to be able wrestle snake away from any dangerous situations. I very much like the look of the carpets, and am curious as to what their temperment and size are like. Also, I currently have an empty 50 gal aquarium, previously inhabited by my ball, and am looking for a snake that will find that size adequate. P.S., what it the best option for enclosure lids, as the ball I had escaped during winter, that is how I lost him. Too cold here to survive winter out of his cage. I kept lid clips and large rocks on each corner, that worked for me. He escaped shortly after moving to a different house, and I had not kept the rocks on the lid. Thanks in advance, I appreciate any information.

Hi - Sounds like you might want to post in the Morelia Python Forum for info about carpet pythons, and in the Caging Forum for help with keeping your snake in its cage.

As far as the lids for cages go, if you're planning on using an aquarium, I like the "Critter Cage" brand of aquariums, they slide on and are very secure
