I have to make a decision....

Hi All,

I need a little advice, as you all are aware by now, I hoped to be getting a bw arg tegu from Bert (agama int) at the daytona expo next weekend. Bert has given me three choices. As I definitly want a male, I can either buy a guaranteed male from last years hatch (2002) wait until october and buy one of this years babies once they have been sexed, or take the chance and buy a baby at the show regardless of sexing. I wanted to know what you all think is a good choice for a newbie like me. Also wondering how big they are at a year old? and how big they are as babies born within the last month or so.

Any advice would be great. Thanx in advance.

My opinion is that you already know what you "should" do. Sounds like from your post that you know that if you really want a male that you should get the sexed/older tegu but like all of us you are also REALLY excited to get your new kid and are wanting one NOW. I would have to say that if you are sure that you want a male that you should get the sexed/older tegu. Getting one a little older also usually means that it is more established and less fragile than a tiny hatchling.

It of course falls back to your decision. Good luck. Just do what you think is best!

Good luck and whatever you chose, we want to see pics!!

I also wanted a male when I first got a tegu. I got a "sexed" baby that was spoused to be a male but I really think it's a female. The other one I got from Bert (he said sex couldn't be determined yet) turned out to be male. I'm equaly fond of both of them . I would suggest getting a baby because I think it'd be easier to tame and if you do get bit at least it won't hurt nearly as much!
