Compatible Breeds

Hi guys. Be patient with me... I had a california king when i was younger as a pet. I'm looking at owning a couple again. I like a few different kinds from what i've seen, but I'm wondering how kingsnakes are together in the same tank (Same breed, and different breeds) Obviously I dont want to mix them if they're going to kill each other.

Also what is all the "HEP" and "HYPO" talk? What do those refer to? Thanks for the help.

Daniel

Sorry I can't help you with any of the other stuff but I can tell you about hets.

A het is an animal that has one gene for a trait and one normal gene. It is also called a carier (in the case of recessive genes).

If you breed an albino to a normal all of the offspring will look normal but will have the gene for albino. These are het albino. (100% het albino)

The % given before the het is the chance that the animal has that gene. A 100% het (or just het) is a for sure, no questions, has the gene. A 50% het has a 50% chance of being a het.

Hope this helps,

As far as keeping Kings in the same tank goes, you've got to remember that kings are dietary generalists, which basically means that they'll attempt to eat each other if the opportunity arises. I wouldn't chance it.
