Once the yolk is fully absorbed, the cord should detach on it's own.
If the animal emerges before this, then it will not have a full belly with which to start it's life off with.
My first hatchling had this problem..The cord was knotted up,and it decided to come out early...dragging the yet still full yolk sac behind it..At that point i decided to cut it(since it had no chance of absorption). But if the cord isn't knotted up,then the best thing to do would be to place it all in a plastic shoebox with a small amount of water and no substrate(until it disconnects, after it absorbs it all)
Hope this helps...gl
