Egg laying, HELP ME

mike3 May 20, 2003 04:15 PM

My mali laid 1 egg yesterday. IT was all shriviled up and yellow. Should I throw it out or keep it. For the last two days my female has been digging like crazy. Infact I can hear her dig in the nesting box right now. What should I do. Should I give her a warm bath, or should I not do anything at all. This is my first clutch please Help.

PS
I already have the incubator on 92 ,- 2 degrees. In the incubator I have 2 vermiculite containers with holes on the top of them. Should I change anything?

Go to www.deerfernfarms.com - look up Care Sheets - then look up 'breeding'. In general, a yellow, shriveled egg is not viable...toss it. Did you purchased her gravid? You might try supplying a nesting box (see website) but since she is not familiar with it she will probably toss her eggs in a corner somewhere. Transfer any eggs to your incubator, check website for temps and moisture requirements. If the eggs are viable they will not shrivel up. Good luck - there is not a whole lot more you can do.
