Setup Comments Invite

I've attached a few photos of my preliminary setup.
The cage is 4x2x2 ft in size. The left side is the hot side where I currently have a halogen bulb on a timer, a ceramic heat emitter on a proportional thermostat with a night drop feature, and a Arcadia UV compact flourescent. The cool side has a standard "full spectrum" (non-UV) flourescent bulb just to increase the lighting on that side.

All of the rocks came from the local hardware store. I've cleaned all the debris off them, and sanitized them by soaking in bleach water and rinsing thoroughly. I've tried to construct hides on both the hot and cool sides. Currently the rocks are just sitting on top of one another. Once I decide on the final stacking sequence, I plan on gluing them together with epoxy (the kind you get at the pet store for holding rocks in place in a fish tank). I also plan on putting a thin (0.25-inch) layer of substrate. Sand and soil blend most likely.

Please ignore the low temperatures shown on the thermometer. The photos were taken within a few minutes of the lights coming on, but they are a little on the low side in general so I'm still tweaking that.

Comments/concerns?

Thanks for the input.

REAL NICE!! Did you make the enclosure yourself?

I did not build the cage myself for many reasons:
I live in an apartment with limited work space
I own no tools
I'm not real crafty
I'm accident prone (me and power tools don't mix)

I sketched up what I was looking for using AutoCAD and took it around to some local cabinet and furniture places, and couldn't get a reasonable price so I ordered it online and paid for shipping. I very pleased with the quality I got.

I ordered it from here:

Looks like a great setup and enclosure!!! Well worth the cost.
A couple comments/ideas cool side works good for mine around 90F hot side/basking I have at 120F, hot side hide 90F. During the summer I was using about 3in. wild bird feed (mostly millet) making sure enclosure rocks etc. go to the bottom. If raised and sitting on the substrate they could burrow under it and get squished. If hide rocks not deep enough to hit bottom and still leave room for them to get in/out just put something solid under them. My winter enclosure is different for brumation because mine were WC.
All in all I'd say you're good to go!!! Enjoy!!
