Biggest Burm?

dpreston Oct 21, 2006 04:10 PM

Hey everyone. Was just wondering what's the biggest burm everyone has and handles regularly?

We have an almost 14 footer here at the New Jersey Reptile Rescue that we use for all sorts of things. Public appearences and stuff like that. She's very tolerant and all together just a big ol' Teddy Bear. She has not problem with being touched or rubbed by random people ( she actually seems to enjoy her days out ). I was wondering does anyone do things like this with larger burm? I know it wouldn't be AS safe but is it do-able if you can assemble the man-power to handle the animal? Bear Bear only needs one person to carry her ( I usually throw her around my shoudlers and cradle whatever is handing, she's only about 120 pounds.).

We use big burms all the time for our many education programs; if done correctly, it can be very safe. Our largest burm was over 19' and over 275 pounds; appropriately named Big Bertha and was a real puppy dog tame of a snake; she passed away a year ago and is sorely missed.

Lou Dadano (sp?) of serpent safari in gurnee, illinois has a 27' individual on display - awesome snake and absolutely immense - there has to be pics on google, i was amazed - she is so huge and girthy that she looks like she could collapse under her weight - i think they estimated her at 490lbs
