Help with Hemipenes

Hollywould Oct 21, 2006 04:17 PM

Both of my male albinos hemipenes are inverted and appears to be filled with blood and very dry looking. Is there anyway of getting them to go back in or will they go back in on there own?
He had been breeding my Salmon het albino female but I hadn't noticed them locked up for a couple of days. Thanks in advance.

Put him in a tub with damp paper towels and take him to the vet.

Thanks for the advice. Got lucky and they went back in on there own. They didn't appear locked up but I think they may have been, when I picked him up her tail came up off of the bottom of the cage. I thought they were just tangled up but they were VERY likely locked up. New at the boa breeding and probably just made a big mistake. On my ball pythons it is easy to tell because the tails are usually slightly elevated and the males tail is always on bottom. Thanks again.

Glad to hear they went back in on their own. Good luck with the breeding attempts.
