sumdumguy100 Oct 21, 2006 07:54 PM

my 4 month old corn snake has shed completley and except for a small patch on top of his head the skin came off in a complete shed. i went online to see if i could help him remove the piece of skin leftover so i took a paper towel and some warm water and wet the skin and tried to remove the leftover shed but i pulled a little to hard and now the scale is missing and he was bleeding just a little. i feel so horrible. will he be ok? what should i do ? please help

A dab of neosporin would help heal and prevent infection.

My snake had a similiar missing scale once when my room mate left my door open (dumb!) and his cat (dumb!) attacked it. He healed right up and is doing fine to this day.

YEAH, the baby will be fine.... somehow when my emily (miami phase) was shedding to get ready to lay her eggs the top scale came off with the shed too!! so now my snake has a lil white spot on her head....gives her personality... its like us getting a lil scrape or cut....it'll be ok!!

Try putting your snake in a wet pillowcase and placing half the bag over the heat source.Let it sit overnight and in the morning the shed will be gone.Just make sure you ring out the pillowcase good before you put the snake in.
