URGENT! Question about undertank heater

corey Oct 22, 2006 08:03 AM

Hey guys, the humidity of the summer seems to have rendered the glue that held the heater to the bottom of the enclosure "stickyless" and now it will no longer stay attached to the bottom of the enclosure. It's a ZooMed RH-6 8"x18". My qustion is: is there some type of glue I can put on it that wont harm the tank, the pad, or my burm (fumes) ? Or do I need to be getting a new pad altogether. Please hurry with any advice. Thank you guys.

I'm not familiar with that particular heater but for other under tank heaters the silver metal tape used in ductwork can be used around the outer edges of the heat pad to hold it to the bottom of the cage.

Hopefully someone familiar with your model will drop in soon and fill us both in.

Catch ya later!

It's not the humidity of summer that did it, it's the heat of the pad itself.
I have a few unstuck pads sitting here as I decide what to do with them.
I would/should contact Zoo Med directly. I have had issues with their products before, and I must say, they answer customer inquiries very quickly.
Give it a shot, and keep us apprised of their answer.

Corey,
Like Bob, I'd like to know what Zoo Med says, too. If you call, please let us know. You'll most likely get a non-tech CR that will read from a list of pre-defined solutions, which most likely will be: (1) Return product for them to add new glue (at your cost, no doubt). (2) Discard old product and purchase their latest version of that model.

In the meantime, it might be a good idea to post this question in the Cage & Habitat Design forum. I'm sure you'll get a good answer there.

Please keep us informed so others can be helped by your experience.

Good luck!

Dang! I'm impressed!

A response that actually helps the customer instead of "Let me sell you a new one."

I stand corrected and a tip of the hat to you, Zoo Med.
