Iguana drowned ?

Mistifire Oct 22, 2006 03:12 PM

My iguana has been putting its head under water and keeping it there for a while reciently, it was not drinking anmd it has been doing it alot.

Today I put it in a rubbermade bucket with shallow water and a small amount of mouthwash to kill its mites and I checked on it and it had its head under water again but its mouth was open and there were bubbles on the water above it, I picked it up it was not responsive but alive. It ended up drowning itself and I wasnt able to get it to breathe after we got some water out of his mouth.

Why did it do this?

Beats me. If Im not mistaken, iguanas can stay a few minutes under water. Dont ever leave it alone in water, or near water.

I hope someone else can chip in, this is very strange indeed!
