I'm curious...

It seems the majority of snakes I see in the ads are Albinos, and hets, and to me they're all starting to look the same. I'm curious why the focus on lighter colors? To me the natural colors are so much more striking. Just wondering.

There are a lot of us here that find "normal" color patterns infinitely more beautiful than the captive morphs. There is both an aesthetic and a purist basis for this for a lot of us.

I don't have any problem with line breeding. But for many species, you can't improve upon the "natural" morphs.

I like the normal colorations, too. But you see the lighter colored morphs in the want ads because there is a lack of darker colored morphs. And this is a low volume, high value situation where small and medium sized breeders can get a decent return and not have to compete with the importers.

I understand the competition. Isn't it possible to go for some darker morphs with current stock? Don't get me wrong, some of the lighter morphs I really think are cool. In fact those were the first I looked at when thinking about getting one. I just saw so many I changed my mind and decided on the normal darker colors. I already have a normal corn on it's way, but I still like some of the lighter ones ones. But it's darks and reds for now. Thanks for the replies.
