Feeding Western Cottonmouth

keith thompson Oct 23, 2006 01:54 PM

Does anyone have experiance feeding young (yearling) western Cottonmouths? I have a wild caught sub-yearling. I have offered it a hopper for my first feeding experiment and it refused. Just wondering what to expect. Since it's only been in captivity for a couple of days it may be a bit early. If anyone has experiance with this species please share.

Temperate snakes are programmed to go off feed this time of year. Make sure it has a hiding box and it kept warm. I would re-try in a few days. Fish and frogs are maybe a good secondary back up.
