I also have a Jack Russell, I wouldn't worry about the dog as much as I'd worry about the snakes being loose around the dog, Jacks will hunt down anything that moves...
Worry for the snakes

Here here!
Those Jack Russels will probably pounce on the snake before anything else! They are funny dogs!

it's a wonder my gold hasn't cooked for himself.....I think he just likes the special treatment of a catered meal though...
we did try to get him to set at the table......I figure if he is going to eat my food he might as well set up like a human..
he was scared of setting at the table though.......
.........he looks just like the pic.........well....they are all coned anyways more or less........

Here's what happend when a golden meets a chow! Talk about a bipolar animal. He's a I'm happy to meet you/what are you doing in my house type of guy. His personality and looks are split right down the middle.

A ball python isn't going to have any desire to eat your Jack Russell, it is not his natural food source. Now, if you rub the Jack Russell all over with rat scent, the ball may take an interest but I think the size of the dog will prevent any strikes in that case.
Now a Jack Russell puppy may be more appealing, as in a newborn..but again, I think it will have to be a pretty hungry ball python or one who isn't finicky at all, to take a puppy of any sort.
I think the dog would pose more a danger to the snake, so best to not let the two interact unsurpervised anyway. Better to keep the snake in his cage and the dog elsewhere when the snake is out of the cage, to play it safe.
Jack Russells are hyperactive little dogs, needing alot of exercise and entertainment, hence why they are so good at agility sports etc. I think they were bred originally to hunt rats or some sort of small game....can't remember off hand anymore.
