Half way done!!

blueselaphe Oct 23, 2006 05:50 PM

I am at the half way point in my deployment!!
My wife came up with a good question for my baby rack plans.
Since I keep very few babies from year to year, would it be a good idea to make the rack useing a deli cup ( I forget the size but it is a large flat cup, almost bowl... I have sold young adult corns and kings in them..) instead of the traditional shoe box? She saw an add that had a rack built useing the ziplock containers.. My olny objection would be heating it, or rather not enough room for thermoregulation. I have always opted for the warmer side for my baby corns and kings but this idea may not afford them the room to get away from the heat if they want to. Let me know your thoughts on this one as I only have 3 more months of planning left..

I think it could be done, but I'd rather just build a rack around a tub that is a bit bigger and will be able to hold the snake for a longer period of time. These are for holdbacks, right?

Chris,
No, this one will be for the snakes that will be for sale. I plan on keeping each snake for at least 3 feedings. The hold back rack will be a regular shoe box type rack with with very specific dementions. It almost seems as if the wife has figured out how to control the amount of snakes by the amount of space allowed. It was only a matter of time I guess.

Okay, that makes sense.

I think the deli-cup or Zip loc rack would work, you may just have to play around with ways to difuse the heat. My main concern would be slight variances in the height of the boxes and whether or not the rack would hold them secure.

Or are the lids secure enough on their own? I always taped my lids, just out of concern of escapes.
