If a snake is said to be feeding on Live and F/T- Mice "chubs" what does that mean? What are mice chubs?

Never heard the term - perhaps a misspelling of "pups"?

In any case mice come in all sizes from tiny pinkys to gianormous jumbos. Just feed whatever is the appropriate size.

I was wondering because i am buying a milksnake and the breeder says it feeding on mice "chubs"

UroTamer Oct 25, 2006 11:35 AM

I think I would go ahead and ask the breeder what they mean by chubs. I did a search for mouse chubs and couldn't find anything, though I did find a snake site saying one eats rat chubs. So far no luck on what they might mean by a chub. The only chub that kept showing up was a chub fish.
Let us know what you find out please! I'm new to snakes and might run across it myself.

The breeder eamailed me back but i am still not exactly sure what it is. I think it might just be another word for fuzzies. He said "Mice pinks would be to small for him , he is taking small mouse chubs at this time.
If you only have mice pinks then he can eat several of those."

Go to wormman.com and do a search for mice. They have numerous sizes from newborn to extra large. I would say it's probably a fuzzie or close to it. From what I know it should be about the same size as the snake's body. I hope it helps.

The rule of thumb that I follow is mice no bigger than 1 1/2 the girth of the snake at it's widest point. At least for Kings and Milks...

You'll just have to see the snake and figure it out. It doesn't matter what this guy is calling them.
