My boas sometimes sit in their bowls. No big deal. After 10 yrs nothing wrong. I guess they are just soaking.
Rabbits are ok, dead. They claw real bad. My big one eats opposums. Anything warm blooded. If your not sure if its safe (worms) just freeze it solid for a month

Water bowl, not a problem in itself, but unusaual.
Rabbits, fine if dead.
Keep the female mouse for a total of 24 days alone, if she does not have babies she will not. Do not buy another male, you will need to get another pair or she will kill the new male.A 1.3 is much better for mice, otherwise they may fight. Good luck. Craig Kade

Water bowl and rabbits - agreed

Mice, agreed with 24 days but should be OK to get another male. Mice are not monagamous, they wqill breed with any available mouse. I cycle breeed all the time andI don't keep track which female went with what male the prior time and never have a problem. Clean cage then introduce new male. Should have babies within 4 or 5 weeks.

You cycle breed with mice?? You are the only person I have ever heard do that succesfully.

I guess that makes me special!

It's the only way I've ever bred mice or rats for that matter. I always wanted to control production and felt that wasn't really feasable with a smaller colony and tub breeding. I now have a larger colony and still do it that way to control production. Every week I add females (in qtys I want litters) to the male cages and remove the obviously prego females. For m9ice as the d=females give birth, I consolodate four females with babies into one raising colony. After all babies are fed off or weaned, the females are re-bred or go back into the ready to breed tub.

That is really cool, I find switching females rarely works out well for me, usually they kill the male, or get beat up by the females that are in there.

Yeah, I have heard that before but never noticed it in my colonies. Odd!!

I clean all tubs on Wednesdays, no washing, just dump out old litter and scrape off anything that sticks with a 6" putty knife. To clean, I fill a new tub with bedding and transfer the mice from old tub to new tub. I do seperate out the really prego females into communal birthing tubs. After all tubs are cleaned, I add females to the males tubs (as many litters as I want to start. This really allows me to control when litters come very closely. For example I have a show in two weeks so with a little thinking ahead, I started extra females and will have a bunch of pinkies/fuzzies/hoppers for the show. They always sell really well and pay for a good portion of the vendor fees.
