Lost Snake and New Question

ABlueflame Oct 24, 2006 07:01 PM

Hey all,

My first post here and already I'm off to a bad start. Within the last week, my juvenile sinaloan (little over 3 feet long) escaped his tank Repeated and countless searches have turned up nothing. No signs of anything (shed, droppings, etc..).

No idea where he could be. I've tried putting plastic grocery bags along the walls hoping they'll make noise when he moves against them, I tried the mouse in the 2 liter bottle (even on a heating pad!) and nothing. I'm in a condo which is not exactly huge so not as many places to search.

Needless to say I now have a 20 gal. long tank sitting empty and I really dont think Loki is coming back.

I'm really interested in the honduran milksnakes as my next snake, either the tangerine or the extreme. I was wondering what a good price would be for them. Male/female doesn't matter nor does het or possible het for anything. Just interested in a good looking snake with hopefully a good personality.

If you have any suggestions as to breeders (know any going to the orlando reptile show on Nov. 20?) prices, or ways to find my sinaloan, please reply.

Thanks.
ABlueflame

P.s. I have learned my lesson that a tight fitting lid with a lamp sitting on top of it is still not strong enough to keep even a small determined snake enclosed. Locks will be purchased with my next snake (or when I find my current one).

Sorry for your loss (hopefully just a temporary loss) and will show up later on.

As far as prices are concerned and what type, it's actually a good idea to just click above or go to the "Classifieds" on this website, look under "Other Kingsnakes & Milksnakes"...scoll each honduran classified and you'll have an idea of the going rate/price. I don't think this is the forum to be asking for specific prices as I think it is not allowed to sell snakes on "forums" other than classifieds.

And lastly, you will not go wrong by choosing hondurans. They are absolutely incredible animals !

later...

Sorry to hear about the escape. Its happened to me before too and it sucks. The most success I've had finding escaped snakes is by looking for them at night. Walk around with a flashlight after it gets dark with minimal or no lights on in your house and you might find it. Its amazing how many places they can find to hide that you would never think to look. Hopefully you don't have air vents on the floor or he may have found his way down those.

Good luck.

Nope, no floor vents. My current theory is that he got into a hole in the wall by the water heater and made his way to another condo or even, somehow, down 4 floors and outside.

Sorry about the price request. I didn't mean to violate forum rules. I wasn't asking for a specific price or for anyone to sell, more of a range. I know that designer snakes can get very expensive and I'm on the poor law school student budget. Regardless, I'm going to head over to the classifieds in a min and try to get some ideas.

I'll keep ya'll updated on whether or not I find my sinaloan or pictures of a new honduran.
