We just got a baby ball python captive bred 2 days ago. I bought the zoo med UTH for reptiles and stuck it to the lower side corner of the tank. I put it on the side per the directions that came with UTH. I also have a 60 watt bulb in a heat lamp that I have been turning on in the morning and off at night. The first night was great snake was moving all around next mourning it was in hid box, that is up against the glass where the UTH is and it stayed there until the next mourning when I found it pushed the hide box away and was laying right up against the glass where the heater is. IS this good for the snake? Should I stick the heater higher up so the next can't lay right against it? Do I need a larger heat source?
The UTH is for 20 gallon tank and I have 20 gallon long. Any other help would be greatly appreciated, my daughter 7yr old really wanted this snake and I want to make sure it is going to stay healthy so she can enjoy it for years to come.
