Show off your DINKING projects

swich Oct 25, 2006 02:16 PM

Hi there,
The forums have been running slow lately, so I thought some of you would like to show off your "New Morphs", "Dinking Around", or "I think its a________" projects. I have a few and will post some pics soon. I hope this will get some people to post, as I love to just come here and read posts and look at pics to take a break. Thanks

I agree...no better way to kill a slow day at work than to hit the forums. Lets see 'em!

Kingofspades Oct 25, 2006 03:18 PM

He's probably just a normal, but I can hope right?

Here's a pic of our bright orange male. Then there's a pic of him next to my '06 pastel female. He's currently in blue so I'll post pics of him after he sheds.

Here are our two classic jungle males. The lighter colored male is the one with the bright yellow coloration, nice blushing on his head, nice abberant pattern and the full black mustache. The second male came from Camlon Reptiles and is the offspring of their classic jungle male. He has nice contrasting colors and very prominant pale spots on his head. So we'll see if either one produces any more jungles for us.

I'm new to all this and would love to know the different types of "identifiers" of snakes. -At this point they pretty much all look the same, except color of course.

What is: Blushing, a full mustache, etc. Any other markings that I can look for or notice...

thank you.

Here's the link to Snake Keepers website page on classic jungle ball pythons. It gives you an explination on the many characteristics of the jungle ball python and the things to look for.

I hope it helps you out.

These have been up here before but I figured they fit the category. They appear to be a dom/codom trait that we produced from a similar looking female. Right now the working title for them in the shop is the "Black Opal" ball (their skin is insanely iridescent). At first we thought they might be sable balls but now we have our suspicions that they're something else. We're working on a super to see if we can't figure them out!

Do you have any pictures of their bellies?

well I still want to see what my first ever snake has going on. Soon when I am done using my normal females with my albino(when the hets are all big enough) then he will get a turn at producing babies. He has some really nice coloring that hasn't faded over the years. His belly has some sorta het pied markers going on(can't find the picture at work to show). Can't wait to see if he is something cool or just a plain old normal like I consider him now.

I showed these earlier but hey! Let's show them again!

I had posted a few pictures of this neat little ball right after he hatched, it's been 2 months and so far he's retained his red sides and is starting to go silver near his tail(though I know this can occur in hatchlings as they shed)

Here's the silvering on his tail, you can see it on the area that's covering his head. (october update - the silver is growing, I will post new pics after he sheds again)

A belly shot-

Here's the hatchling's mother-

This is a huge older male that has a really interesting pattern. Horizontal stripe down the side of the neck, striped belly, and an overall greenish tint to him. This is the father of the hatchling in the photos-

Top shot of the male-

Annnd a belly shot of the male-

So what is it? I dunno! Some say it's scars(all his scales are in tact BTW)...He's breeding and if anything he's a beautiful snake with tons of blushing! Hopefully he'll pass that blushing on to his offspring!

Belly shot!

A few of my lil projects.First is het pied male to a normal gal. Second is a mojo to a normal female.

This is my dinkin stuff. This first one has a Mojave'ish, Phantom'ish, or just a Co-dom'ish look.

This girl has a soft leathery look to her. She doesn't have any spots on her side, so I am going to breed her to my spider this year. I really like spiders without the alien eyes on the sides, so that is what I hope to get from this pairing.

This is my favorite snake right now, while not a ball it will be my favorite dinkin project when I get a female for him.

.....white/off-white snake producing co-dom.

I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that first animal is going to prove out.
What does the belly look like?

Congrats on some nice looking BPs.

Oh, and nice Scrub too; not too shabby either.

Thanks for the complements on my animals. Here is a belly pic of the 'ish looking one. The belly isn't as clear as other codoms, but I think maybe it could prove out.

Here is a quick snapshot of him.

vcane Oct 25, 2006 06:17 PM

I have a few dinkers. My definition of dinking would be somthing unproven that you are messing around with to see what happens.

All females and most should go this year thanks for checking them out.

...there.

I'm not sure if the last female reminds me more of a 'Grade B' Mojave or one of Amir's Mocha Balls.

Best of Luck proving them all out.
DO keep us all posted of the breeding results.

I like this kind of dark, granity, almost partially striped, clearish belly, little bit uni-colored headed do-hickey

medusah Oct 27, 2006 02:18 PM

You've got yourself a black pastel there my friend!

The side neck stripes, dark eyes are a dead give away...

Congrats

milkman2 Oct 27, 2006 06:49 PM

I have thought that, but the belly has too much going on, It is a toss up as to whether I put her with a cinny or a yellowbelly next year, if she goes with the cinny I will be hoping for a black snake or two. She is a bush baby and if she proves out, it would be nice to have another line to work with.

Some black backs.

redemberreptiles Oct 25, 2006 11:54 PM

Here are pics of a female we aquired about a month ago. She's ten years old and really looks like an axanthic. She went into a shed shortly after we got her and she has kept her grey color. She's currently around 2700 grams and will be bred with my pastel male this winter. So i'll be sure to hold back one of her male pastel offspring so that I can breed him back to her. If she does prove out to be axanthic then I'll hopefully be producing some more pastels, some axanthics and hopefully a nice little axanthic pastel. But here are the pics. She pictured next to my 3 year old normal female. What do you guys think?
