They pretty much look the same to me. Am I missing something?

Some cool stuff going on with the pattern, but they don't look hypo. Some normal Capes can be quite light in color. Did you see their breeders or pictures maybe?

Hi Andy

Nice pick-up. I have not seen these for a while. They are fairly common a couple of years ago but have somewhat been forgotten for some reason. These were AKA patternless, stripped, and "hypo" to breeders. I think the 1st and 2nd name is more fitting than hypo though. There's a photo of one in the Cape Gopher Care Sheet in the Care Sheets/FAQs/Features above just for reference. Glad to see they are still around. Thanks for the pics.

thanks jonel, yes i agree striped or patternless make more sense. fact is if you look close the male's eyes are ALL black, the pupil the iris, everything, they look very different in person, i have some better pics, but i can only figure out how to post one at a time.

here is another one, the flash from the camera brings out more orange on the back of the male but in sunlight it more solid red. and the female is much more orange and peach colored, for cape gophers this is what breeders consider hypo, it for some reason creates completely black eyes.
