Hey All!
My names Kayla, and I'm new to the forum.
I'm a proud mommy of 2 RedTail Boas, a mexican black kingsnake, a black ratsnake, rose hair tarantula, northern blue tongue skink, 2 eastern collared lizards, african bullfrog, 2 red ear sliders, 6 cats, dog, 4 cockatiels, Umbrella cockatoo, Asian Biker fish, 2 LARGE oscars and over 30 koi.

I do reptile rescue and received these 2 skinny as can be collareds. I'm almost positive that they are eastern. They were wild caught in Arizona and have been in captivy for about a year now. They were being kept with "horny toads" the entire time. Is that okay?

I was wondering if any one would be able to tell me if they are indeed easterns? and how to tell the sexes apart from another?

Welcome, glad your with us , seems like you also have a house full, hehehehe, I know where your coming from .

From your pic it seems you have 2 males, and one is an eastern/ or C. collaris and the guy up top looks to be a C. bicinctores or desert collared.

These guys both appear to be adult, and will have to be seperated at some point, as males can be quite territorial.
Heres a link to a page on sexing collareds, should help you to see the differences.

Your guys are handsome and hopefully will beef up real nice for you!

Thanks for including the link. I checked it out.
How are you able to say they look like males?

I just know, hahahhaaa ! You can't always tell by color, but you can sometimes.

The bicinctores males are quite differnt looking than the female. They have bluish black dewlaps or throat area and blackish spots on their under sides, pattern differences.

The C. collaris male yellowish/blue guy you have is really Neat looking I like him alot.

In the second pic you posted it looks like your desert collared is young, maybe a yearling.
