There are a few good things you can keep in the cage. Keep in mind each Uro has it's own tastes and may/may not like different things.
First there's Millet (they usually prefer red) which may be purchased at a local feed mill. Millet is also included in different bird seed mixes. These can also be used as substrate.
Second there's Hay, not just any hay, it should be alfalfa, clover, or timothy. Some will eat the dried kind some won't. Mine don't.
Third you can put in a mix of dried cracked beans. northern, pinto, and the like. Again some will eat these some don't.
Another is dried tourtise chow pellets.
Mine only seem to like the red millet, and then only sometimes. They can be finicky eaters, and even more so with snacks.

We've for years kept our Uros healthy on a diet of greens every other day combined with a daily seed bowl that has a mixture of parakeet food, bulghar wheat, oat groats, buckwheat groats, barley, soy, lentils, various cracked beans, etc. For the most part, they all seem to go for the parakeet food first. In addition, you can sprout those same beans that you're busting up for dry food.
When available, give flowers such as dandelions, hibiscus, nasturtiums & mallow. The leaves, too, One problem with dandelion leaves is that they wilt almost immediately. Don't offer them until your lizard is already out & warmed up.
Most Uros love sweet peas & they will definitely put the weight on them. I believe Doug once told me to always dust them with a supplement containing zinc, though.
Sums it up for me. Hope it helps.
ok, thanks guys.
the main greens i feed are kale.
i heard this is a great green to feed reptiles.
