Musk Turtle Eggs - Please Reply!

insularis69 Aug 06, 2003 06:54 PM

I need info on incubation temps, humidity and substrate.
Any help would be excellent as I am now keeping them at 27 degrees celcius in a moss/coconut mulch setup at high humidity (though not too wet)

Any help A.S.A.P would be MUCH appreciated! I don't want these little guys to die on me!

Thanks in advance to all who reply

Matt

My info is not specific for Musk eggs, but generalized for "turtle" eggs:
Eggs incubated at 71º F (21.7º C) will result mostly in males.
Eggs incubated at 79º F (26.1º C) will tend to result in more or less equal numbers of males & females.
Eggs incubated above 79º (26.1º C) will result in mostly females.
At a temperature of 88º F (31.1º C) or higher and the great majority of hatchlings will be female.

Good Luck!
