evening activity still strong in AZ

HKM Oct 26, 2006 12:56 PM

Despite temps as low as the low 60's, I have seen at least one atrox out after dark every night this week (SW of Tucson) and have not even been roadhunting. For instance, last night a mohave, two atrox and three gophers snakes were seen in one 8 mile round trip to the store (73 degrees).

No surprise to me, but lately I have been talking with some who seem to think snakes in the southwest stop everything in September. I told them I would occasionally post activity sightings here, as they go about their business year round here.

thats the beauty of the Sonoran Desert region. One can find snakes all winter if ya just know where to look. We saw quite a few atrox yesterday, few pics up above.

Best,

Rich
