meal time *pix*

danktat Oct 26, 2006 09:37 PM

well it was feeding time today and I took some pix.
first is my wife's normal bci (0.1)

.
next is my albino bci (1.0)

Then came the 5ft sub adult surinam bcc (0.1)

.
and last but not least the new little bcc. This is his second meal he took from me and hit without hesitation on a large weanling rat. This pic actually shows a bit of his lateral pinkness as well

.
Every one else is in full blue at the moment so they get none ... lol ... thanks for looking.

"In full blue" means in the midst of a shed cycle, with eyecaps opaque. "Blue" refers to the milky bluish tone of the skin that's about to be shed.

I should have taken pics of my snakes last night, I did my feedings too. I'd just gotten in an 05 Suri from Monty at Strictly Serpents--taking her out, I went for my normal and discovered she was in full blue too. No rat for her, not till Monday anyway...

No need to hold back on feed, most often a good feeder will take prey when its offered. In blue or or not.
We never hold food on that basis.

I do it out of habbit if nothing else. I have had to throw away animals after they weren't taken when a shed cycle was in progress. They could be offered to other snakes if not taken but I just tend to hold off until the shed is complete.
