Tom, that normal yellow Florida king is one of my favorites. That is a beauty, as well as the rest of your critters. Great pics.

Thanks Steve, but the first pic is an adult Sulfur Lav, the second a female Peanut Butter. They change dramatically from hatchling to adult. I can't find any pics of the huge male normal I have, but he is still one of my faves.....but man I have a lot of FAVES LOL. There's probably a pic of him on my site. Thanks for the compliment on my dog and my snakes. It would be hard to tell from the other picture, but believe it or not, that's not a doberman. It's a Manchester Terrier. They look just like a small doberman, but they only get to around 25 lbs. and they have a long tail. Here's a different pic.

and last pic is a smile for the camera, LOL

........a Florida king. This is a female that is also het for lavender albino and snow. It produces lavender albinos, anerythistics and snows. From the high red line that creates the "Extreme" lavender colored "brooks" (aka Florida) kings.

She produces animals like this one below:

bluerosy Oct 28, 2006 10:01 PM

Here is a pic of its sibling. As you can see it an albino and has no pattern. In the original breeding aalbino bananna cal king was bred to a pueblin, so thats where the alboni gegn comes from.

this is a pueblin X corn hybrid:

I haven't seen any nitida king on here that I can ever recall. I love the nitida as a pure king. Lot of nostalgia on those for me. Have any conjuncta? Or has conjuncta been done away with in nomenclature???:

The striped desert Cali's from Borrego/Scissors crossing area are also a major fav of mine:

Both "nitida" and "conjuncta" are gone from taxanomy. I was told by the guy I bought him from that he bought him from a guy who bought him from Lemke, but I'm still waiting on the specifics to validate him as "pure". So, I guess at this time I'd be better off calling him a "nitida" look alike. And no, I don't have any "conjuncta", I personally prefer the striped forms of the Cali Kings

11 year old son holding our Cal King a couple of years ago.

bluerosy Oct 28, 2006 08:15 AM

I have ever seen. Are you sure your son is not a midget or the pic has been photo shopped. Would love to see more pics of this animal. Is it a male or female? Age, weight? Who did you get it from and how old is it?

Jim M. Oct 28, 2006 08:26 AM

Beginners luck I guess. Our first snake, picked him up in a local pet shop about 9 years ago, and he (Bandit) grew quite large and was really a nice pet for our family through the years. Had several other types of kings and a corn after him but never found one quite as gentle and certain not as big as he was. Unfortunately he passed on a couple of months ago, but we have some great memories and I hope my new baby Florida King turns out like Bandit. Thanks for the opportunity to show him and for the interesting thread of emails you got started. Jim

bluerosy Oct 28, 2006 08:59 AM

Well thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about the snake dying.

Do you know what sex your baby Florida king is? The reason I ask is males turn out a whole lot bigger than females. Post a pic of what it looks like some time.

baby florida kings:

Jim M. Oct 28, 2006 09:25 AM

The new Florida King is a female according to the breeder at the recent show I bought her from, appears to be a normal vs. brooksi. I didn't realize the size difference as you mention between the sexes as they mature, but however the snake turns out she'll be given the same care and attention that Bandit had and I'm sure we'll enjoy her the same way. I'll never know what Bandit the Cal King was, never sexed and I never learned how to handle that. He or she by my best attempt with a tape measure once was a little over 5 feet long. All the best....

29th from the top is a Chocolate Banana cal king.

As far as posting more than 3 pics at a time. I just use the brackets on each property that I copied and posted. Maybe it is because you are using kingsnakes host site? I use my own host site which I have to pay for (Fototime). Photobucket is free but a little more difficult to upload. Not any worse tha KS host site.. so check it out.

From the Forum FAQ:

http://www.pethobbyist.com/shared/forum_faq.html

Q. How can I add a photo to my message?

You cannot post a photo to the forums directly from your computer's hard drive. You must first upload the photo to the internet (many websites nowadays allow people to store their photos online). When you register to use our forums, you also receive 10 MB of free photo storage space in our Pet Hobbyist Photo Gallery. You use the same username/password to log in to the photo gallery as you would use to login to the forums. There are three ways to add a photo to your message:

* You can use our variation of HMTL code in the body of the message to add a photo. See the "Tools & Toys" for instructions.
* You can type the URL for the photo in the "Image URL" section found at the bottom of the message screen.
* Upload a photo to the Pet Hobbyist Photo Gallery. Then when posting a message on the forum, select it from a drop down menu of the photos you have in the gallery. Using the CTRL key, you can select up to three photos. This method is the best option since some photo websites will block you from using your photos elsewhere on the internet.

Note:

If you want to use the HTML variation code with your pet hobbyist photo gallery photos, use the image url given in the description area of your photo! Do not use the gallery page link itself as you can't link a website page as if it were a photo.

Example:

This is one of my gallery page links:
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/index.php?photo=288492&user=7650

This is the description area inside that particular gallery page:

Very nice. Tell us where you found it and how?

Rosy I found in the San Gabriels a couple years ago.

Sorry about the bad pic. That snake was found at dusk crawling along a fireroad. I did not drive it but found it walking. It was spring and the temps soured up into the 100's in the desert so we decided to head up to the high elevations of the San Gabes to get away from the heat because snakes don't like it that hot. It is usually cold at 5000 feet during this time of year, but we figured the heat wave below brought the temps up in the high elevations and we struck paydirt. We found an adult pair. I found the female and my bud found the male.

Br8knitOFF Oct 30, 2006 06:20 PM

I found it driving home back in San Diego (Oceanside specifically) right around sunset.

I'm always scanning the road for these guys, and he just happened to be crossing at an intersection of a 4-way stop.

I pulled over, stopped traffic, and walked him into the field it looked like he might have a good time in across the street...

LOVE to be able to find these guys AOR and be able to get them out of harms way!

It was about a mile or so down the road from our house.

Maybe it has something to do with the locale of glossys.. I know Don Shores is having trouble getting his captive born babies to eat.

All the ones I bred in captivity came out eating unscented pinks from the start. No problems whatsoever. Kinda thought they are similar like consnakes. Very easy to maintain. AT least the ones I had were.

On a mountain! Couple miles away (I kid you not) from a cute little place called Hellhole Canyon. It's north county san diego, kings and rattlers are all over the place. Since the fires a few years ago we haven't found nearly so many, but they're comin back now. I have no idea what phases anything is but what I always see are banded black and yellow kings and the rattlers are actually really pretty. I think we've got speckleds around the house, but don't quote me on that (been a while since I've seen an adult).

The ringnecks like to eat the slender salamaders. You can find sleander salamaders almost anywhere in calif. I used to get them from under potted plants when I lived in Brentwood.

I have kept and succesfully bred western banded geckos throughout my life. They are a fav of mine and I always come back to them. They are very easy to care for. Just need an undertank heater and some insects. Very rewarding animals to work with IMO.

Haha!

You're right, but they as much as I LOVE them, they still kind of freak me out.

Here's one on my arm...

For those of you who don't know. Jetzen was a forum poster who always posted pics of his snakes feeding in the hand.

Here is one last pic for the Jetti!

You know you’re gonna start a whole new thread with this, don’t you?
GOOD FOR YOU!
Here’s my tribute to JETSEN shot
(Might want to let everybody know he didn’t die!- just said goodbye here)

My “Tribute to this bluerosy thread” shot- took this today for ya...

bluerosy Oct 29, 2006 11:32 AM

Oh man... Thats a nice snake! I am proud to be associated with it.

Thanks for the kind words!

Upscale Oct 29, 2006 11:43 AM

Thank you. You know I’ve had this snazzy digital camera for about a year now and I just found out TODAY it has a macro selection! Again, thanks to you and your thread! HA! Doesn’t mean I can take a decent picture yet, though... And I have a perfect pair of those supposedly from Bartlett, can’t hardly tell them apart but they are “getting better with every shed” bla bla, but really very nice I hope to line breed for that patternless trait.

Boy thats some nice stuff.

Whats the hognose in the pic? Is it a mouse feeding eastern?

Also the hypo brooksi,,, Very nice!

here is a pic of one of mine-

kevine Oct 30, 2006 05:39 AM

Yeah the Eastern has been feeding on mice for quite a while now. Out of the four I have only one is still a holdout for amphibians, but I have to admit it did take some work to get the others converted. Do you recognize the New England? Kevin

My mom holding her kitten a couple years ago. His mother got run over by a car, so she fostered the 3 kittens that survived. This one has the most personality, and is terribly smart.

Ya I did not expect this. I wonder if this is a record for all KS forums. It must be a record for just this particular forum.
