US to Germany and want to take balls??

jlb5025 Oct 27, 2006 06:48 PM

Hi all,

I'm moving to Germany this coming summer and have a small ollection of ball pythons, albino's, mojaves, spiders, and pastels. I'm curious as to how to ship or how I could take them with me, if that is at all possible. Any advice or information that could help me out with this dilema would be greatly appreciated.

You have to do it as a normal export and go thru the whole procedure. Ball pythons are cites animals meaning that you will have to contact Fish and Wildlife and apply for export cites permits. The form can be downloaded on line. This process is very slow and can take up to 6 months maybe more. They say 1 to 3 but 6 is more realistic. You will also have to ship from an airport that is a designated port of entry .Fish and game can give you a list of these so you can find the nearest one to you. You also need a USDA heath certificate this is obtained by taking the animals to a USDA certified veterinarian for inspection. Bottom line, it's going to be a major pain to bring them. US Fish an Wildlife can answer al your questions. Ernie Eison

Thanks for the information. After researching further it seems like it will take a lot of work to move them from the US to Germany. As much as it kills me to do, it looks as if I will be selling my collection. It's a good thing it's not to big I think I will have success in finding them good homes.

Are you in the millitary? If so there is a back door to shipping animals. Let me know, I am working with some Army guys who are out of Germany, one of them is married to a German Soldier so I can try to get you as much info as I can before you have to sell off the collection. If not, I'll buy your hypo female boa....

One other thing, as it stands I will only be taking my high end ball pythons so the hypo will be for sale. Email me directly if you're interested.
