what is this girl?

xblackheart Oct 27, 2006 09:23 PM

I have had this snake for over a year, probably closer to Two years. She has always been one of my favorite snakes. She is very pretty, just keeps getting better. She is a very faded grey, but her backgroung color is getting more and more pink with some purple. The camera does not pick up all the color, but I have some shots of her with my ghost to compare. I just wanted to get some opinions on what she would be considered. Also wanted to know if the darker one is normal for a ghost.
Thanks for any feedback.

Head shot

I would say she is a ghost also, and yes it is quite normal for them to vary in shades and color.

I would have no reason to doubt that the lighter one is a ghost.
Not that the other one isn't a very nice snake but the one in question is a better representative of a ghost in my opinion.

So you don't think the pink and purple tint has any significance? Do ghosts normally have any pink or purple?

Some ghosts get that pink or purpelish wash as they age.It is mostly the males, but i have seen it in females also. One of my males has a nice pink wash (i will post some pics after he sheds)and some of his offsping are starting to get it.

one of my ghosts has a nice peachy tint and the other a lavender/pinkish tint, so yes it is pretty common for ghosts to have a pink tint.

...pix of the belly of both snakes. It's not uncommon for pink to be an 'overwash' in ghosts. It's even more common when motley or bloodred are in the mix. Males are usually the ones with more pink in them. The amount of pink in your's is not extreme so I probably have no basis for asking for the belly shot, BUT the pink one may be a male. Show us the underside of the entire tail and I'll tell you what gender it is. I know you're calling it female, but let's see.
