Is a rack a suitable...

...home for a milk snake? I currently have an open slot in one of my racks (for me, this is a disaster waiting to happen...having a rack that is not full is like a car with only three wheels...there is just something wrong about it...LOL).

Anyways, the slot I'm looking to fill is independently heated (from the rest of the rack) so I can offer different temps for this slot than the rest of the rack receives. It is a fairly large space 2 feet deep, 4 feet wide and 8 inches tall.

Would this be suitable for a Milk Snake. I recently saw a Milk a breeder has for sale and was blown away by it's beauty...but wasn't sure if a rack type setup would provide for it's needs.

All replies would be appreciated...I don't often get a chance to post so if I do not get a chance to reply to this thread again...I apologize in advance...but I will read any suggestions given.

Thanks!

Many here use racks for their milks. What subspecies do you plan to have in that space?

I really don't know which sub-species it is. I haven't committed to purchasing it (yet) if and when I do, I'll be sure to do more research to be sure I am providing a proper environment.

I've looked at the photo galleries here on KS and I still wasn't completely able to figure out which sub-species it is. Maybe you (or someone else) could help me narrow it down though.

The best description I could give is this: the pattern is comprised solely of red (I'm talking bold, bright, blood red) and black. It's stripes are not "clean" - meaning they tend to have fuzzy or broken borders versus some of the sharper bordered animals I see here. It's belly is completely jet black.

Actually, I have no experience with Milks (does it show?) and it was this one individual's unique appearance and bold colors that caught my eye. I've looked into Milks before but their colors and patterns never really appealed to me. I'm not sure I've ever noticed another individual that had a pattern comprised of only two colors before (or is my memory THAT bad?). Plus, the extremely BOLD red this individual has really stands out. Sorry, I don't have any pictures to share. If I do end up purchasing him I will definitely take some pics for everyone to see.

In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas about this snake (from my ever so professional and scientific description - LOL) I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again!

Why not post your question to the what kind of snake is this forum? Or simply ask the seller. It sounded like a Tangerine Honduran up until where you mentioned the solely black ventral scales.
