I would continue to put that male in with the females that way the more he does it the more chances he has to get the female gravid...one time isnt enough and if he is that ready to breed keep sending him in....

I GOT MORE BALLZ THAN YOU!!!!

I'm in the same predicament. If I only use the unproven male I'm concerned that I may miss the window of oppurtunity with the females that I could have had with the proven male.
he's bred 7 females already this season? is that one time for each female? If he's breeding them each one time that is not enough unless you have an ultra sound and you know exactly when each female is at it's optimal time to produce eggs. In my opinion nobody should expect to get a high percentage of eggs from single copulations especially when you are breeding that male to many other females. It is soooo early in the breeding season that the majority of our females haven't even started their cooling process and only one of our males is interested in breeding, luckily it's our 04 striped vanilla and he has bred 2 females 4 times each as of yesterday. He is on a week long break now and then he'll go in a monthly rotation with 2 other females, one which is a 1900g female pastel (fingers crossed on a couple vanilla pastel's). He's getting 2 females a month for 3 months then he get's each of those 6 females for 3 days each then 3 days off or until the female ovulates or he shows no more interest in that female or breeding at all. Hope this helps

Naw - you got 4 more months left in the breeding season - give him plenty of rest and slowly work him through the ladies a few more times - I think I tried to get at least 8-10 copulations last season and got 100% ovulation rate. If he starts to look like he's pooping out then maybe keep him going at half of them and back up the other half with your pastel. But don't be afraid to give him a week or two off to feed and recoup if he needs it.
Good luck.
