allergies

I have my adult iguana for 5 tears now.For some reason the last 2 years I became seriously allergic to him,not able to breath and a runny nose.It is more serious than it sounds. This let me to only be able to provide proper husbandry without handling him more than I have to.I suffer from some other minor allergies and asthma and my doctor said he can do nothing about it.
I know I should not expect much by posting such subject.Any opinions or comments will be appreciated

I have suffered with allergies for 2 years now. I am certain
it is Digit I am allergic to. I have been taking shots for
other pets in case but the welts from him touching my skin
still happen daily and the asthmas attacks do still happen.
I wear a mask when in his room and keep long sleeves on
so he cannot touch my skin.

I have never had allergies before in my life so this was
quite a shock to me. I plan on continuing to work with
my allergist as finding him a new home is out of the question.
I tried that and he was very unhappy so I brought him home.

Some people do have allergies to their iguanas.

I know of someone whose wife has to do all the cleaning of the iguana enclosure. He covers his arms up, too. I'm allergic to everything else...but the iguanas/reptiles don't have that effect. I still have furries in my house, too...but I take meds and will for the rest of my life.

At least you know he is the problem and you seem to be taking the steps to make it bareable.

It is so sad,I also have another person to clean the enclosure...
It is 2 years now I suffer from this,my allergist told me there's nothing I could do except for specific shots for iguana allergies we might find abroad.Mask doesn't help at all he said.I have tried everything but unfortunally I'll have to find him another home. This is quite difficult since a room sized enclosure and a dedicated owner is a must.Sooooo sad, after all this years with him

I'm really sorry you have to find a new home. I wish you the best of luck finding the perfect one. Have you thought about posting him on some of the online adoption boards? Greenigsociety.com allows you to post them on their site. Scalesandtails.com used to...I think they still do. They use their applications to screen potential adopters. It's just another option.
