BRB possible RI?

ruthvan Oct 28, 2006 09:12 PM

A few weeks ago we bought a baby BRB at a reptile show and when we got him home his nose was bubbling when he breathed. We put him in his new enclosure that averages between 85-90 degrees and the humidity is around 70% and he has a humidity hide with moss as well. After a few days the bubbling stopped and he's never refused a meal but he still wheezes (sounds like chirping) occasionally and when he yawns it looks like a tiny bit of mucus in the back of his mouth.

When I read the previous posts it looks like bubbling is a sign of it getting worse so since it stopped does that mean that he is getting better? And if he were real sick wouldn't he stop eating? I'm going to call a herp vet and the breeder on Monday but for peace of mind I'd like to hear about this before then.

Hey, I just troll in the anaconda section (my dream to own a yellow male) Im a BRB guy atm and it seems your temps are a bit off.

For BRB's you definatly want to be BELOW 85* 85* being a MAX not a low. Temps above 85*'s over a long period of time can kill a BRB. I believe a more comfortable tempurature setting is 75-85 even at night dipping to low 70's.

I am no expert but this is what i have come to understand.

It is important expecually to a baby BRB.

I have on that is ~ 6-7 weeks old and she has a temp from 73-80 with a humidity never going below 85%

goodluck
