question about thawed mice

izora Oct 29, 2006 04:30 PM

I feed Frosty every friday, he gets two adult mice. Last night, well I took two out and rewrapped the plastic bag I keep them in in foil, as well it freaks people out to see mice threw a plastic bag, so I wrap em so nobody knows whats behind the foil. Anyway, I thought I hadplaced them back in the freezer and hadn't. I got up this morning and they were sitting on the chair and thawed. I set them out at 330 am and got up this morning at 730 and they were thawed, still extremely cold but soft. I put them back in the freezer then and decided to ask ya all the opinion. I had a funeral to attend so I couldn't ask you earlier, so whats the call on these mice?

Are they safe for Frosty to eat still or should I just throw them out? TIA--Izora

I personally would throw them out.
I just don't think it is safe to re-freeze any feeders.
As they were thawing they were also decaying.
As they were decaying bacteria was growing.
Would all the bacteria be killed when put back in the freezer?
I don't know.
Would I trust that they were?
Nope

In my opinion. If the snake accepts them it's o.k.Things happen sometimes, where you may go past the normal thaw time.I've had it happen several times. No problem! Jeff
