Richmond Reptile Show

RussBates Oct 29, 2006 07:09 PM

Had a great time at the show today in Richmond, VA and met some really nice people. Oddly enough Rosy Boas seem to carry the day. The guy next to us was selling corn snakes and bearded dragons hand over fist.

Putting a face to a King Snake forum name was cool too....nice to meet you Steve, Cory, Chris, and Kinion/Steve. I look forward to seeing you guys/gals again and Kinion be sure to post some pics of that thayeri as it matures.

I am proud....not happy........to say I didn't buy any snakes In my opinion, the coolest snakes there were some het pied Prasinas.

I was hoping to make it, but last minute something came up. I was hoping to find a female Mex-Mex, oh well. It would of been nice to put a few faces to names as well. I guess there's always the next show.

Phil,
I don't recall seeing any San Lois Potosi Kings....so you picked the right show to miss.

I don't know how I missed the prasina. I'm looking for an adult male if you know where I can get one.

I did see a beautiful and clean intermediate thayeri with the brightest orange I’ve seen in person go for $25 in the last couple hours (table on the main entry wall across from Randy W's table). The couple working another table that got her appreciates thayeri and were grinning from ear to ear walking around with what must have been the deal of the show. That's always good to see...

It was also good to meet you in person Russ. I would have bought a pair of your yellow leonis stock had I not just purchased one from mike b. Yours are among the best out there and look smokin' in person not to mention what a photo might look like.

Not to mention i bought an adult pair of W hognose and one orange pinband thayeri before i knew you were there. Had I not done that I could have justified buying that female even though I made a delusional promise to stick with pinband/aberrant and one pair of yellows.

I had a good time too. Its always fun putting faces to names and judging the "best in show".

Steve_Craig Oct 30, 2006 12:21 PM

Thanks Russ. Likewise, it was a pleasure to meet you. Overall not a bad show. Had some cool odds and ends, and some good deals. One guy I know picked up a pair of rubber boas. Another person on the KS forums picked up an adult female western hog for...........$75.00. What a deal. And for myself? I didn't go home empty handed, LOL I picked up a sub-adult corn and a locality Emory Ratsnake. Had a great time and I hope you did as well Russ. You sure do have some screaming Thayeri.

Thanks Steve but I didn't think a thing of it. I'm old hat in Richmond and Russ made a grand first showing. And wasn't he dressed smartly! Looked like he planned that outfit for weeks!

Man I really missed out. Was he color coordinated? Did he have matching shoes too? I was in Nebraska over the weekend for my sisters wedding but I think I would have skipped over that so I could see Russ's outfit. Got any pics Tony?

thanks for the compliments on the thayeri......

Hope you enjoy the emoryi and ghost corn.........man I use to have alot of corns and now have a lone ultramel male and a pair of double het lavender bloodreds.........that I will prove out this coming summer.

I didn't tell you this at the show but I started a project about four years ago (opalcicles) and handed it off to my buddy Steve in San Diego........he proved it out several times over this summer. I on the other hand was working towards lavender motleys and finally produced 2 last summer before sending Steve the breeders.

Corns are fun.
