enclosure size

I have a simple question. I currently have a vacant 50 gal aquarium. Specs are L=48", W=12", H=20". Is this large enough to house an adult tree boa? I am interested in Amazon tree boas and GTPs, and I am already looking into purchasing and buying new enclosures, but I don't want this aquarium to go to waste. Very nice. Thanks

Sell it and buy something you can work with a tree boa in. There are a lot of cool arboreal cages on the market. That thing is way to narrow to work in. Sometimes its nice to be able to get away from the snake when they are not so happy to see you. Get a cage around 16 to 18 inches deep. It will make for a happier snake and a lot less blood loss.

I agree..pretty skinny. Maybe try somthing with a front opening instead of top.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that it may be a bit too skinny. I will keep it though, as there are other snakes that will be fine in there. It was previously used to house a ball python, and I am probably going to use it for another ball. I have several designs I am working with on building, along with several nice cages I have seen, so I will go with one of them for an arboreal instead of this aquarium I have now. Thank you for your input. Very helpful.
