Is my male a sissy?

tsusnakeguy Oct 30, 2006 11:11 AM

Ok I put my rainbows together for the first time last week. Since then my male has been layin in the water bowl and the girl is stretched out in the cage. I know it can not be to hot because I have the temps just right and he didn't lay in the water before the female was added. I also found what I believe to be sperm plugs in the water when I changed the water the other day. Does that mean anything and has anyone else had this stuff happen before?

Sperm plugs are always a good sign. I often observe my males in water dishes and on cold ends of cages for the next few months. I believe they are cycling themselves. Thermoregultating at lower temperatures for one reson or another (increase viable sperm?????). It's still early in the breeding sason. Your animals will come together when they're ready. Has either gone off feed?
