Three Russians, 4 Hermanns, 1 redfoot, & 1 Egyptian.

They get Spring Mix, dandelions, endive, plantains, sow thistle, violet leaves, creeper leaves, various flowers in season, wild strawberries, & Mazuri tortoise chow.

Each & every one seems to LOVE Mazuri!

1 sulcata
I don't really feed because her she grazes on her own.
She eats the lawn which is green Bermuda grass in summer, brown in winter, then she has
rye grass in winter.
The many broadleafed green weeds that grow in the lawn on their own.
(I pull up any weeds that may appear that are known to be toxic)
Spineless cactus pads.
Cactus berries on occasion.
Mulberry leaves fresh from spring until they fall off the trees in winter then she eats the dried ones that fall off.
Flowers when I can find any edible ones to pick.
Occasionally turnip & collard greens.
She gets a little pumpkin this time of year.

I wish there was a spell checker. lol
I meant that I don't really feed HER BECAUSE she grazes on her own.

1. redfooted tortoise

2. for normal daily feeding, i usually buy premade bags of spring mix (good mix of greens), or sometimes mixed baby greens, or whatever looks good. to this i add a bit of various fruit/veggie... favorites are blueberry, strawberry, squash, plum, kiwi... i rotate these.

every 3 days he gets a plate of mazuri and fruit dusted with vitamisn and calcium.

he also gets occasional "treats" if i'm eating something he wants and can have. for example, little pieces of cooked meat, egg, or cheese for protein and variety. i'd not feed him any raw stuff for fear of parasites, etc.

unchikun Oct 31, 2006 09:39 AM

i don't keep him outdoors, but he does get to go on supervised walks, during which time he's been known to eat grass, violets, and clover. he doesn't seem to like dandelions.

then there's the list of things he'll always try to eat that i have to stop him from (dead bugs, poop, etc etc....)

Russian's, Greeks, and Redfoot's.

Russians and Greeks

Dandelion leaves and flowers, cactus pads, clover, plantain, mulberry leaves, cactus fruit, turnip greens, lawn grass, grape leaves, thistle, mallow, hibiscus leaves and flowers, rose leaves and flowers, (kale and collard greens once in a while) Plus, what ever is foolish enough to grow in their outdoor pens.
No commercial food - too high in protein.

Redfoot's

60% fruit (everything, with only banana's given on rare occasions)
30% greens (same as the Russian's and Greek's, plus okra and whatever is left from the vegetable garden)
10% Mazuri
